Riding the UCI World's Champs cycling course in Wollongong

Last Friday I headed down to Wollongong to ride part of the UCI World Champs road race, time trial and crit course in anticipation of it being less than 100 days away. The course is SPICY!!!!

The UCI World Championships in Wollongong is going to be SUCH an interesting race, the course is nothing like any other UCI world Champs courses I've seen. It's technical, it's lumpy.. actually it is more than lumpy. There is one particular section on the crit course which is near vertical, I checked the Ramah Rampage strava segment later and saw gradients exceeding 25%. Ouch!

All I could think in that moment was DON'T STOP!!!!!!!!

There was one of the international teams there doing a recce of the course the same day as us. Checking out the route is one of the first steps in developing a race nutrition plan that works best for you - so you can make an informed decision about what types of products you want to use to fuel your best performance and when you are going to take them.

Because you don't want to be trying to chew on a bar at the same time as climbing up a 25% wall or mid crit race, or running out of fuel at the pointy end of your event, trust me!

How confident are you in your race nutrition plan?

What you eat before, during and after your event can make or break how you perform. Have you put as much thought and effort into your race nutrition as you have the training?

If you have an upcoming race and are yet to build and develop your race nutrition plan to test out in training watch the online Race Nutrition workshop.

You'll learn how to build a race nutrition plan specific to the event you are currently training for, get advice on supplements, real food, drinks or gel options to fuel that plan as well as a wealth of tips and tricks about how to test your plan in advance and ensure you don't forget or end up with gut issues on the day.
